Divide Smoothie Ingredients Into Single Freezer Bags
Dividing your ingredients for smoothies into individual 1 Gallon plastic freezer bags are not only an excellent way to portion out your smoothies but also an amazing time saver. Smoothies are a great way to kick start your new years resolution in the winter and a sure fire way to beat the summer heat.
Using frozen fruit from the grocery of maybe grabbing some fresh fruit from your local produce stand cut your favorites into small chunks (obviously not a necessity for berries or grapes). To keep your fruit from being one giant lump, when frozen, simply position the fruit on a paper-lined cookie pan, and place in the freezer for four hours. While your fruit is freezing, get some plastic freezer bags and label them with what type of smoothie you’ll be making. You can also write additional ingredients that are needed for the smoothie, such as dairy milk, coconut milk (my personal favorite) or Greek yogurt, on the bag.
Store the bags in the freezer: Make sure the Seal on the bag is locked securely to prevent freezer burn and place them in the freezer. Pull them out as needed. No need to thaw and best of all… No ice required!
Hint: if you plan on keeping the fruit in the freezer and only using it sparingly, keep in mind that you may want to use it before a year’s time frame from when you first put them in the freezer. So, it might be a good idea to date the freezer bag as well.
